About Us

GreenOrlando is committed to helping preserve and improve the quality of life available to all residents of Central Florida. Its mission is to help individuals, families, businesses and organizations reach their fullest potential and accomplish their evolving goals. This mission is expressed through eight quality of life aspects that are held in dynamic tension: Art, Balance, Ethics, Faith, Fitness, Nature, Teamwork and Sustainability.

GreenOrlando is published online and updated frequently. We exist to provide a forum for the community as it grapples with its present and future. We have no political affiliations or motivations, and see the need for dialogue, awareness and consensus-building on local issues. We live here and love Central Florida, and want future generations to love our community as well. As you feel led, write to us, contribute your opinions and get involved. Write an article or share your frustrations, so that together we can keep our communities healthy, vital and growing without sacrificing the quality of life that brought (or kept) us here.

About This Publication
GreenOrlando is about quality of life and how that relates to the environment. Many issues face us, and we’ve broken them down into eight initial categories to try and manage it all. GreenOrlando is a grassroots endeavor, a forum, a place where we can, as a community, talk about issues, specific and general, for the purpose of preserving and improving our quality of life. Here we will present articles and post your responses. To be successful and to really represent Florida, we need your input.

About Us
GreenOrlando is a venture created by Giant3, a full service communications group by Longbow Strategic Group, Inc.. We saw the need for a vehicle by which we could talk about the issues we see as Central Florida undergoes rapid growth. We’ve seen what unchecked, poorly managed development can do to small towns and cities. Many of us have moved here to escape congestion and urban sprawl. We hope to help ensure that our state’s natural treasures are preserved as we move forward in the 21st Century. With hope and perseverance, we think this publication can make a positive difference. That’s our mission and our motivation. If you feel the same, share your thoughts and experiences, contribute to this forum, donate your time and services in support of the community, and work to preserve and improve Central Florida.

About This Site
GreenOrlando is more than a website, an eMagazine or a blog. So many people work for the benefit of the community, more than most people are aware of. Our goal is to tell your story, to pull together all the amazing things that goes on and thereby reveal how unique Florida really is. Imagined and built by Giant3, The GreenOrlando site gathers relevant stories, interviews and spotlights sorted by categories, each addressing a particular community. By doing so, we paint a big picture of the diverse landscape that is Central Florida.

What about your community?
We seek to build a network of similar sites that share content and reach beyond the borders of Central Florida. Can you see your city, county or region talking about itself as we do here?

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world, indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” - Margaret Mead

Having a local focus is critical. Rather than build a nationally or state-focused site that lacks credibility, we built GreenBrevard and GreenOrlando. We need local people, local organizations and local businesses to tell us their story. The outpouring of support has been incredible and we thank all who regularly contribute.

Does your organization use the web effectively?
Many people think their web site is something that needs to be addressed every few years. The result of this kind of thinking, is missed opportunities. How much energy does it take to get someone to visit your site? How much work does it take to market and promote your organization? A stale site is disposable–it’s a one-time use, then discard, operation for today’s web surfers.

What can you do to cultivate return visits? The answer is simple, provide fresh, relevant content. At Giant3, that’s what we are in the business to help you provide. Getting someone to visit your site is a critical step. Bringing them back, that’s the challenge. And that is the difference between a brochure site and really using the Internet to maximum advantage.
