BSO Subscription Concert: Blue Danube Dreams
Saturday, March 19, 2005 at 8:00 pm at the King Center

Terrence Wilson, piano
Johann Strauss, Jr. – On the Beautiful Blue Danube Waltz
Dmitri Shostakovich – Piano Concerto No. 1
Johannes Brahms – Symphony No. 3

Following his much-heralded performance in April of 2003, pianist Terrence Wilson returns to the King Center stage for a performance of Shostakovich’s witty and satiric First Piano Concerto. The majesty of Johannes Brahms’s most heartfelt and personal symphony is complemented by the nostalgic melodies of Johann Strauss’s most popular concert waltz. Though their styles were quite different, Brahms and Johann Strauss greatly admired one another, both drawing inspiration from Austria’s natural beauty.
