Save the Manatee Club (SMC), the world’s leading manatee conservation organization, is dedicated to protecting endangered manatees and their habitat. Ever since singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett and former Florida Governor Bob Graham founded the nonprofit organization back in 1981, the Club has been deeply involved in numerous efforts on behalf of the manatees. Though the challenges are many, we remain steadfast in our mission to ensure the manatees’ survival.
Every day, thousands of individuals and families from every walk of life are taught how to become free from the bondage of debt, financial stress, and the effects of bad money decisions.
Should we send the children to the large, public elementary school, or to a smaller but expensive private school? Should I accept an offer for a higher-paying managerial job and give up the hands-on involvement, or stay at my current level and salary, but do work that I love? Should I go to graduate school now and finish in 18 months, or enter the workforce and go to grad school at night, but finish in 3-4 years?
What does it mean to be an “ethical” person of faith?
It was late after dinner, almost bedtime, when my son, a first-grader, informed me in a distressed tone of voice that he had not done his school homework, which was due the next morning. Instinctively, I asked him “what are you going to do about it?â€
The saying of course refers to the belief that it not only takes parents to raise a child successfully, but the process also needs grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends and neighbors, teachers and pastors, even strangers. By joining together, the child benefits from the love, understanding, knowledge, as well as the watchful eyes, of many people working as a team to raise a happy, healthy child.
We all want the best for our children. We want them to be knowledgeable, capable, and self-confident human beings, able to one day make important contributions to both their own lives and the lives of others.
Across time, I have come to learn that all of life is a unified story, woven together by the threads of everyone’s individual stories. This patchwork of truths and lessons has much to teach me and much joy to give me-but the key is to train myself to discern the patterns of the fabric and interpret what they are saying.
I can’t tell you how many times or in how many places I’ve heard it. People say we just don’t have anything cultural to do in Brevard. And yet, there are many venues here for theatre, visual arts, performance and music, among others.

The Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival was created in 1997 to showcase the unique nature, wildlife, and technology in Brevard County. With a comprehensive schedule from sunrise to sunset, participants can explore all our county has to offer while enjoying time with families and friends.
Part of Webster’s definition of guilt includes the statement, “a feeling of shame or remorse due to personal responsibility, real or imagined, for an offense.” Does the responsibility pertain to a sense of inter-connectivity, to mankind, to community, to family or to home?
